When it comes to joints, arthritis is often one of the biggest concerns. However, PEMF helps not only with arthritic symptoms, but also potentially the cause as one piece of research in the Indian Journal of Experimental Biology found that “the use of PEMF for arthritis cure has conclusively shown that PEMF not only alleviates the pain in the arthritis condition but it also affords chondroprotection, exerts anti-inflammatory action and helps in bone remodeling.” 4
Having experienced an MRS 2000 and Bemer, I wanted a mat and thought I was getting such a good deal with the OMI. I just want to share my disappointment so that you may benefit from my leaning. First, there is a noise that emanates from the mat and PEMF Supply will tell you that his is normal. Well it isn't with the MRS or Bemer. The noise sounds something like what you might imagine electricity running through a coil would sound. It belied any relaxation for me. Secondly, you will pay at least $225 (my loss in simply returning the system was $374.37) to return it. If you feel you have a faulty mat, you will pay $50 to send it to them to look at and another $50 to send it back to you. For a new product, I feel that is very poor customer service. In light of these aspects, I am not able to recommend the OMI system. If you still want to buy it, I would advise buying from Amazon since they have a return policy.

While it’s true not that all pain could possibly healed by a single method, as the causes of the pain matter most and may not be treatable by PEMF, which targets to heal the cause of the pain as well. For example, PEMF is not effective in pathogenic environments as the microorganisms will also find PEMF nutritious and thrive in it. In such pathogenic environment, such as in case of Lymes Disease, electric zapper devices might be the best electrotherapy mode rather than PEMF. PEMF could employed for rapid recovery after the pathogens are over-powered or vanquished by using electrotherapy.

Recently I published the first new feature article for PainScience.com in quite a while: Zapped! Does TENS work for pain? The peculiar popularity of being gently zapped with electrical stimulation therapy. I’ve now added an interesting new section to it about pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF). It’s amazingly positive, and inspired by some fresh science …
“The magnet is brilliant and we are sleeping on Recovery mode all the time now, most obvious thing is the amount of energy we have on waking up and throughout the day; no pushing through the day anymore. Jimena, (whom I recommended), also says the same, she is more than happy with her results too. Wind under load readings very high very quickly also.”

Another study, in Bio-electromagnetics, looked at 11 different trials involving PEMF to determine its level of therapeutic effect as well as whether or not it was safe. Some of these studies involved PEMF’s effects on osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, or pain perception, while the rest focused on how PEMF impacted skin ulcers, fatigue related to multiple sclerosis, heart rate variability, and overall well-being.3
PEMF has been known to completely reverse chronic pain and alleviate or greatly reduce other symptoms after only a few sessions. Within days of use, it has the capacity to accelerate injury recovery that normally would have taken weeks or months to fully recovery from. PEMF treatment is also very effective but gentle for an area which may be too sore to touch and manually massage. Now you have a choice! You don’t have to live with pain.
You may have heard that electromagnetic fields (EMFs) that come from things like wireless routers, microwaves, and airplanes disrupt your biology. EMFs can alter your DNA[1][2][3][4] and reconfigure your genes,[5][6] which can leave your cells not really knowing what to do. That can result in a lot of havoc, ranging from being tired all the time or ending up with DNA damage and cancer.[7]
Sleeping inside the infrasonic cocoon created by our patented, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field each night, precisely “tuned” to Mother Nature’s very special low-low (infrasonic) frequencies will leave you feeling clear headed, sharp, full of energy, and with a renewed zest for life. Our entire frequency range is under 15 Hz; and with these magnetic frequencies, we can give you the best sleep you’ve had in decades, or, alternatively help wake you up at a specific time in the morning; or keep you alert through most of the night with less caffeine.

Results: Low-back pain scores for the 42-µs group decreased by 40.2% (p = 0.028), compared to 18.6% for the 38-µs pulse width group (p = 0.037) and 25.6% for the sham group (p = 0.013 per protocol population). Average leg pain scores decreased by 45.0% (42 μs, p = 0.009), 17.0% (38 μs, p = 0.293), and 24.5% (sham, p = 0.065). The proportion of subjects responding to therapy, time to 30% reduction in pain scores, and Patient Global Impression of Change were improved with the PEMF 42-μs device over the sham control, although results were associated with p-values >0.05.

Figure 6 illustrates typical configurations of the PEMF units used in aesthetic surgery. Figure 6, A has a dual coil applicator for breast surgery. Figure 6, B demonstrates a single coil that is used for local pain relief following abdominoplasty in which the experience of one of the authors (BS) has shown that postoperative pain and edema is rapidly resolved and patients are ready for discharge on the first postoperative day following abdominoplasty for massive weight loss.
The majority of these reactions are temporary and mild. In people with electromagnetic hypersensitivity and electrical hypersensitivity, these reactions are not only increasingly common but also more uncomfortable, yet magnetic therapy is seldom discontinued in this situation. Usually, the issues can be resolved by slightly adjusting the treatment.

So PEMF has been used on fractures for a long time now, but only recently have PEMF devices gotten small and cheap enough for consumers and less critical medical applications. Can they work on more ordinary problems? Like arthritis? Something TENS can only treat effectively with just the right settings and variables, that no one can seem to confirm? Apparently so …
I felt horrible. Nobody wants to be told they have cancer. I was afraid, my family was afraid. I watched a documentary on cancer and through it I found a loving, wonderful clinic. I learned how amazing our immune systems are and how our bodies can fight cancer! I came to the clinic and I was shocked. I didn’t know cancer treatment could look like this.
This Twitter-brief statement packs in many red flags for quackery and snake oil: such as a simple device that can tack a wide range of medical conditions that do not appear to share a common cause or mechanism. The word “tackle” is vague, but implies either a cure or at least a significant treatment. Anyone claiming to treat or cure cancer deserves close scrutiny.

EMFs fall on a wide spectrum — everything from x-rays and satellites to your wireless headphones emit EMFs at different frequencies. High-frequency EMFs, like X-rays that register frequencies in the hundred quintillion Hz range (yes, that’s a number and it’s big) are the most disruptive to your body. That’s because they are ionizing — which means they have enough energy to break electrons off of atoms, which charges them. This changes the way your cells work.

Corticosteroid injections have been commonly utilized in treating rotator cuff disease. Koester et al (2007) performed a systematic review of the literature and analyzed nine randomized controlled studies comparing subacromial corticosteroid injection with placebo. One study demonstrated significant pain relief and two studies showed an increased range of motion in the injection group. No significant complications were identified. In a study comparing a corticosteroid injection with a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection for subacromial impingement syndrome, the investigators found the Constant score and VAS for pain to be significantly better at both 6 weeks and 6 months in the corticosteroid-treated group. Good patient candidates for a single subacromial corticosteroid injection to achieve pain control are those with significant night pain or patients who will not tolerate phase 1 rehabilitation because of pain.

Centuries later, during the Middle Ages, use of these types of stones was again recorded, thistime referring to them as “lodestones” which were placed upon the patient’s body in an effort to achieve greater health. Then, in the late 1800s, science increased our understanding of electrons and electro-magnetism, prompting healthcare professionals to consider using magnetism and electricity for a number of different ailments, ranging from an inability to sleep to actual physical convulsions.
PEMF Therapy has been proven to be a very effective method to restore and maintain cellular function by re-balancing the cellular membrane functions and improve oxygenation of the cells and nutrient flow and as well as to detoxify the cells. As more cells are re-balanced the natural regeneration process occurs. PEMF Therapy has also been shown to be effective in counteracting the negative affects of the BAD EMF's.
Although they are both mats and share some of the same health benefits, they are actually quite different… a PEMF device uses an electromagnetic pulse to administer healing.  The BioMat combines far infrared light, negative ion technology and the healing properties of amethyst crystal to deliver its.  The list of health benefit bullets above all apply to BioMat use, but there is a key feature that the PEMF device cannot list:
Although injections can be a useful tool in decreasing the inflammatory process and differentiating the impingement diagnoses, caution must be exercised in recommending steroid injections. Steroid injection in or near the cuff and biceps tendons can produce tendon atrophy or can reduce the capability of damaged tendon to repair itself.127–129 Kennedy and Willis130 concluded that collagen necrosis occurred with steroid injection. Controlled studies have been performed showing minimal effectiveness alone with the use of steroid injections.131,132
This article continues my series which looks at recent scientific advances in understanding Parkinson's Disease, and then considers the pragmatic outcomes which people affected can apply at home, in our time. In the previous instalment, we looked at how the brain's of people with PD are "noisy", being dominated by busy, anxious beta brainwave frequency activity:
Several mechanisms of PEMF therapy have been elucidated with regards to cancer. These studies have shown that PEMF therapy may exert proliferative inhibition and mitotic spindle disruption, block the development of neovascularization (blood supply) required for tumor growth and exacerbate an inherent or induced genetic instability by reducing the stringency of the late-cycle (G2) checkpoint. PEMF therapy also modulates gene expression and protein synthesis, interacting with specific DNA sequences within gene promoter regions. PEMFs have also an immunomodulatory effect, as supported by in vivo evidence showing an increase in tumor necrosis factor alpha levels that induce an anti-tumoral response.
Bone regeneration can be accelerated in osteotomies made 3.5–4.5 cm distal to the head of the fibula in dogs. A voltage field was induced in the fibula by inductively coupling pulsed electromagnetic fields of low frequency and strength directly to the bone across the skin. Not only did the stimulated osteotomies heal faster than control osteotomies but the regenerated bone was also more highly organized and stronger than control regenerated bone, even though the mass of callus formed was less than in controls. This method has been used to successfully treat tibial pseudoarthroses in young patients. Pseudoarthrosis is a rare, local bone dysplasia that has a very low probability of correction by conventional techniques. Pulsed electromagnetic fields have also been used as a noninvasive postoperative treatment for lumbar vertebral fusion.
Conventional medicine continues to be dominated by mechanical/chemical thinking (surgery and medication treatments). However, Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields Therapy already forms part of conventional medicine as a complementary treatment method. It is currently accepted by specialist medical bodies and is a key topic in medical working groups and a current object of research in a number of universities.
