More recently our bodies have been bombarded with unnatural and harmful EMF's. As well we are working and living in unnatural environments which block the natural earth emf's (which we need). This is a similar experience of astronauts in space who were affected by the lack of the natural earths emf's and then negatively affected. With all this advent of “modern” technology now we require these other methods of PEMF Therapy to help bring our bodies back into balance. And there are many other things (pollutants, improper nutrition, and many others) which take the body out of its natural balance where PEMF Therapy is essential. The other factors such as proper nutrition etc.still need to be addressed.

Many people are aware of the negative effects Electro Magnetic Fields have but it is important to understand not all Electro Magnetic fields are bad and in the case of PEMF therapy we are using them to recharge our cells. Each cell in the body has its own small electromagnetic field with all our cells operating between around 0-30Hz. The Earth also has a magnetic field fundamental resonance frequency which is usually around 7.83Hz which is referred to the Schumann Frequency and this is the type of magnetic field our bodies have evolved to operate properly in. The problem is with increasing technology our world is getting filled with electromagnetic pollution that is filled with higher frequency electromagnetic fields our bodies are unable to properly function with and is making us sick.
All energy is electromagnetic in nature. All atoms, chemicals and cells produce electromagnetic fields (EMFs). Every organ in thebody produces it own signature bioelectromagnetic field. Science has proven that our bodies actually project their own magnetic fields and that all 70 trillion cells in the body communicate via electromagnetic frequencies. Nothing happens in the body without an electromagnetic exchange. When the electromagnetic activity of the body ceases, life ceases.

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy can non-invasively treat a variety of pathologies by delivering electric and magnetic fields to tissues via inductive coils. The electromagnetic fields generated by these devices have been found to affect a variety of biological processes and basic science understanding of the underlying mechanisms of action of PEMF treatment has accelerated in the last 10 years. Accumulating clinical evidence supports the use of PEMF therapy in both animals and humans for specific clinical indications including bone healing, wound healing, osteoarthritis and inflammation, and treatment of post-operative pain and edema. While there is some confusion about PEMF as a clinical treatment modality, it is increasingly being prescribed by veterinarians. In an effort to unravel the confusion surrounding PEMF devices, this article reviews important PEMF history, device taxonomy, mechanisms of action, basic science and clinical evidence, and relevant trends in veterinary medicine. The data reviewed underscore the usefulness of PEMF treatment as a safe, non-invasive treatment modality that has the potential to become an important stand-alone or adjunctive treatment modality in veterinary care.

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy isn’t typically as well-known as other forms of treatment such as chiropractic, massage, and physical therapy. Therefore, many people assume that it’s a relatively new remedy, leaving it wide open for speculation when it comes to its positive effects. However, the truth is, PEMF has actually been used to help people live a healthier life for quite a long time.
We bought this through Amazon and have had it about 2 months. Here is the deal: This does work. Yes, it is low power compared to the high power (MagnaWave, Pulse, Curatron, etc.) systems. Those I believe are useful for injuries and seriously infirm people - broken bones, Parkinsons, diabetes, etc. Those will also detox your body very quickly, sometimes leading to herxhiemer effects, flu-like symptoms, acute exhaustion as your body deals with toxins released from your cells. THIS system will give you energy, relieve chronic low-level arthritis, minor injuries and minor neuropathy. You will generally NOT deal with strong detox from the OMI-Mat, as it's lower power. The trick with the OMI-Mat is that you MUST use it 20-30 mins EVERY day for at least 3-4 days (on program P-1, in the morning or early afternoon) BEFORE you notice the effects. I did, and realized that I literally "just wasn't tired anymore" at the end of the day. Gave me energy to keep working late, WITHOUT exhaustion. This is the REAL deal and it works wonders if you give it a chance. You can miss a day or two during usage, but after a while, at least for me, the effects wear off somewhat. But, if you use the energy to start exercising, to "get over the hump" if you will, then capitalize on your use of this and move into better health and even more energy. If you are elderly and homebound or sedentary, this can be the most important tool for better circulation and energized blood. There is nothing close in this price range.
The mat conducts negative ions directly to the body to restore the natural electrical field of organs and cells. Anions, FIR and PEMF help to relieve stress, anxiety, fatigue and depression, relax and bring you the feeling of well-being. PUBMED publications show that these healing technologies may bring immediate soothing for joint, muscle and soft tissues pains and stiffness, reduce arthritis, rheumatism, lyme, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis symptoms, insomnia, sport trauma, minor strains

Heading up NewMed is Business Development Manager Andy Smith. His father, and parent company director, suggested that Andy use PEMF therapy after he experienced complications following stomach surgery. After such a positive experience using PEMF therapy himself, Andy thought there would be no better advocate for it in the UK and that’s how NewMed began…

Please Note! While the IMRS device is FDA Registered in the US for Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, Pain, Non-Healing Wounds, Fractures, Headaches and Insomnia and in Canada for increasing circulation, relieving headaches and pain, the application to register the iMRS devices with the Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) in Australia has NOT proceeded as yet because the benefits of PEMF Therapy and the iMRS devices are still relatively unknown in Australia and New Zealand, which has resulted in limited sales, thus not warranting the considerable expense to do so at this moment of time. In Europe the MRS- and iMRS-systems are certified as Class IIa-medical devices within the directive EEC 93/42. Furthermore all systems have a CE-Certificate as well as a more advanced CB-Certificate, which guarantees electronic safety and electromagnetic compatibility in the majority of countries including USA, Canada and Australia.
Female subjects must be post-menopausal, surgically sterile, abstinent, or practicing (or agree to practice) an effective method of birth control if they are sexually active for the duration of the study. (Effective methods of birth control include prescription hormonal contraceptives, intrauterine devices, double-barrier methods, and/or male partner sterilization).

After conducting in-person interviews of more than 23,000 American adults, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (in conjunction with the National Center for Health Statistics) found that almost 40 percent of those surveyed used some type of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in an effort to obtain and retain a higher level of health.1

The Earthpulse™ PEMF generator is small and portable, yet stronger than all but the large and non-portable $10,000+ pulsed electromagnetic field therapy device systems. Strong enough to effectively penetrate a 16 – 18 inch (40 – 45 cm) thick mattress. A steep enough electromagnetic pulse to induce microampere current in tissue, yet small enough to easily fit in a handbag or briefcase; at a fraction of the cost of low-energy mat based pulsed electromagnetic field therapy device systems.

What’s more is that, PEMF treatment is pulsed and brief, so you don’t have extended exposure like you would sitting under a cell phone tower all day. Most PEMF treatments last 10-20 minutes and deliver short bursts the whole time, instead of constant exposure. So, you can get all of the benefits of PEMF without the negative effects that come with man-made EMF sources like electronics.
Given the recent rapid advances in the development of portable and economical PEMF devices, of most significance to the plastic surgeon has been the laboratory and clinical confirmation of decreased pain and swelling following injury or surgery.3,62 Indeed, PEMF configured for the Ca/CaM pathway has been shown to significantly accelerate postsurgical pain relief with a concomitant reduction in pain medications in a randomized, doubl-blind study in patients who underwent breast augmentation.3 Because of the unique biologic mechanism of the PEMF effect, this modality can be combined quite effectively with other therapies for additive or supradditive effects to promote pain relief, healing, and recovery. Treatment regimens may be manual or automatic and scheduled as frequently as every hour for particularly acute situations. The device is noninvasive and can be applied over a dressing; it and may even be part of a dressing for postoperative treatment of an incisional wound (Figure 5). Treatment begins in the recovery room and, to treat pain and edema, is generally administered every 4 hours for 30 minutes for 3 days, and then every 8 hours for the next several days until pain and edema are not significant. For the treatment of chronic wounds, the regimen is 30 minutes twice a day until healed.
Alzheimer’s disease: improvement of visual memory and visuoconstructive performance by treatment with picotesla range magnetic fields; Sandyk R; Int J Neurosci. 1994 Jun;76(3-4):185-225. The author had previously reported that external application of electromagnetic fields (EMF) of extremely low intensity (in the picotesla range) and of low frequency (in the range of 5Hz-8Hz) improved visual memory and visuoperceptive functions in patients with Parkinson's disease. Since a subgroup of Parkinsonian patients, specifically those with dementia, have coexisting pathological and clinical features of AD, the author investigated in two AD patients the effects of these extremely weak EMF on visual memory and visuoconstructive performance. The Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure Test as well as sequential drawings from memory of a house, a bicycle, and a man were employed to evaluate the effects of EMF on visual memory and visuoconstructive functions, respectively. In both patients treatment with EMF resulted in a dramatic improvement in visual memory and enhancement of visuoconstructive performance which was associated clinically with improvement in other cognitive functions such as short term memory, calculations, spatial orientation, judgement and reasoning as well as level of energy, social interactions, and mood. The report demonstrates, for the first time, that specific cognitive symptoms of AD are improved by treatment with EMF of a specific intensity and frequency. The rapid improvement in cognitive functions in response to EMF suggests that some of the mental deficits of AD are reversible being caused by a functional (i.e., synaptic transmission) rather than a structural (i.e., neuritic plaques) disruption of neuronal communication in the central nervous system.

Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (PEFM) Therapy is not a disease-specific therapy. Its effect on the microcirculation and the resulting improvements to the supply and removal of substances to/from the body’s cells allows these cells to produce and supply increasing amounts of energy and therefore in turn carry out their tasks (production) better. This “production increase” and the resulting increased supply to cell products allow the body to reactivate its control cycles, meaning that the body helps itself and can promote the healing process.

Conventional medicine continues to be dominated by mechanical/chemical thinking (surgery and medication treatments). However, Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields Therapy already forms part of conventional medicine as a complementary treatment method. It is currently accepted by specialist medical bodies and is a key topic in medical working groups and a current object of research in a number of universities.

This was a rigorous test of wearable pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) for older patients with osteoarthritis of the knee: moderate to severe cases with X-ray evidence and pain of at least 4/10 for more than six months, despite maximum tolerated medication. Sixty patients wore either a real PEMF device for 12 hours per day, or a fake; neither they nor the researchers knew who got real PEMF (double-blind). PEMF is particularly easy to test properly, because it causes no sensation, making it much easier to compare to an active placebo.

Harmful EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies) that cause electro smog come from many electrical components such as wiring, motors, cell phones and other equipment. Small appliances and equipment that are used in our homes daily such as computers, TV, WiFi and microwaves transmit frequencies that are equally disruptive to the human body as is that of cell phone towers and high voltage power lines.
Although electricity’s potential to aid bone healing was reported as early as 1841, it was not until the mid-1950s that scientists seriously studied the subject. During the 1970s, Bassett and his team introduced a new approach for the treatment of delayed fractures, a technique that employed a very specific biphasic low frequency signal[10][11][12][13] to be applied for non-union/delayed fractures. The use of electrical stimulation in the lumbosacral region was first attempted by Alan Dwyer of Australia. In 1974, he reported successful initiation of graft incorporation in 11 of 12 fusion patients.[14][15]

Although the aforementioned studies suggest that PEMF effects on the Ca/CaM/NO cascades were responsible for the reported biologic effects, cellular and animal studies in which the use of inhibitors for selected steps in this cascade provide the strongest support. One well-designed study clearly showed DNA synthesis in articular chondrocytes in vitro was increased by PEMF via a NO pathway. This study systematically used CaM, NOS, and cGMP inhibitors that individually eliminated the PEMF effect on DNA synthesis.55 PEMF effects on osteoblast proliferation and differentiation were shown to be mediated by NO.56 Direct evidence of the effect of a PEMF signal configured for the Ca/CaM pathway on real-time NO production in a neuronal cell line, which could be eliminated by CaM and NOS inhibitors, has also recently been reported.57,58 Finally, 2 of the authors (BS and AAP) showed that PEMFs configured for the NO pathway significantly increased angiogenesis in a thermal myocardial injury in the rat.59,60 This effect was eliminated in rats who were fed NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), a NOS inhibitor (Figure 3).
The feasibility of PEMF therapy for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has also been investigated in a single-group, open-label, phase I/II clinical study. Forty-one patients with advanced HCC received very low levels of PEMFs modulated at HCC-specific frequencies (100 Hz–21 kHz) and received three-daily 60 min outpatient treatments. No adverse reactions were observed during PEMF treatment. Five patients reported complete disappearance and two patients reported decrease in pain shortly after beginning of treatment. Four patients showed a partial response to treatment, while 16 patients (39%) had stable disease for more than 12 weeks. This study shows that PEMF therapy provides a safe and well-tolerated treatment, as well as evidence of antineoplastic effects in patients with HCC.
We thank Dr Pfeiffer for raising this point. The EULAR recommendations for the management of knee osteoarthritis1-1combined an evidence based approach and a consensus approach. The evidence based approach—that is, the literature research, was only applied for the treatment modalities selected by the experts at the first meeting of the committee (see table 1 of the paper).
Recently I published the first new feature article for PainScience.com in quite a while: Zapped! Does TENS work for pain? The peculiar popularity of being gently zapped with electrical stimulation therapy. I’ve now added an interesting new section to it about pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF). It’s amazingly positive, and inspired by some fresh science …

PEMF-Devices.com blog is covering many such conditions one-by-one. We also endeavour to find out the extent of healing that happens in various conditions due to PEMF therapy. Finally, we cover PEMF devices for which there are reviews from users that explain their experience as well as the techniques and use guide for these conditions based on reviews and research.
I know many people with PD have similar problems around food, digestion and medication ineffectiveness.  The reason for this, I believe, is in the role of the primitive Dorsal (Vegetative) branch of the Vagus Nerve in digestion, the specific part of the Nervous System also responsible for immobization/freeze responses in humans. Essentially, when a lot of food hits the digestive tract, this can send the enteric nervous system of people with PD into shock, activating the Dorsal Vagus, but in a way which then also inhibits the Ventral (Smart) Vagus Branch responsible for relaxed digestion. This enteric stress therefore results in increased motor symptoms. See

On the show, world-class pain specialist Dr. James Dillard mentioned electromagnetic portable pads to Dr. Oz. These mats produce a therapeutic pulsed electromagnetic field that can surround the entire body. They are not FDA-approved and are not made in the USA. PEMF mats are primarily advertised and distributed over the Internet, often used without medical supervision. Retail price is $2000 to $3000, and often renting is possible for a weekly rate. There are a dozen different companies that make these devices. Three examples are the Mediconsult iMRS/MRS2000, Medithera Home System, and Quantron Resonance System QRS-101.

Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (PEMF) works by improving cellular function and health at the molecular level. PEMF improves health by addressing impaired chemistry and the function of cells. Science has proven that our bodies produce their own magnetic fields. Everything works within the body by electromagnetic exchange. Disruption of electromagnetic energy in cells can cause impaired cell metabolism.
Results: Low-back pain scores for the 42-µs group decreased by 40.2% (p = 0.028), compared to 18.6% for the 38-µs pulse width group (p = 0.037) and 25.6% for the sham group (p = 0.013 per protocol population). Average leg pain scores decreased by 45.0% (42 μs, p = 0.009), 17.0% (38 μs, p = 0.293), and 24.5% (sham, p = 0.065). The proportion of subjects responding to therapy, time to 30% reduction in pain scores, and Patient Global Impression of Change were improved with the PEMF 42-μs device over the sham control, although results were associated with p-values >0.05.
PEMF therapy effectiveness in mouse models of breast cancer; Mice were divided into four groups (n = 3 each). Group 1, 2, and 3 were exposed to PEMF therapy (1 Hz, 100 mT) daily for 60, 180, or 360 min, respectively, for 4 weeks, while group 4 did not receive PEMF therapy and was used as control. All mice were monitored for tumor growth by body bioluminescence imaging once every 2 to 4 days for 4 weeks. Then, all the mice were sacrificed and skin, liver, lung, and spleen samples were collected for histopathologic analysis. Mice exposed to PEMFs for 60 and 180 min daily showed a 30% and 70% breast tumor reduction, respectively, at week 4. Mice exposed to PEMF for 360 min daily, showed a suppression of tumor growth at week 4. In summary, this study shows that the time of PEMF exposure is critical to determine its effectiveness. Mice exposed for longer duration (360 min daily for 4 weeks) showed a significant reduction in tumor size, due probably to the inhibition of angiogenesis that may suppress the formation of blood vessels in tumor tissues, reducing the tumor growth.
Centuries later, during the Middle Ages, use of these types of stones was again recorded, thistime referring to them as “lodestones” which were placed upon the patient’s body in an effort to achieve greater health. Then, in the late 1800s, science increased our understanding of electrons and electro-magnetism, prompting healthcare professionals to consider using magnetism and electricity for a number of different ailments, ranging from an inability to sleep to actual physical convulsions.
